The AMA's mandate is to preserve the heritage of the people
and institutions of the Province of Manitoba by improving
the administration, effectiveness and efficiency of the
Province's archival system(s).
Membership
- If you are working with or interested in the preservation
of Manitoba's documentary heritage - documents, electronic
records, photographs, maps, plans, film/sound recordings
- then you share an interest with the members of the Association
for Manitoba Archives
Education
- The AMA offers its members educational and training opportunities
in archival principles and practices through seminars, lectures
and workshops. Topics explored can range from preservation,
acquisition and appraisal, arrangement and description,
electronic records, reference services, public awareness,
advocacy and management.
Advisory Services
-The AMA's Advisory Services Program provides assistance
to member as well as non member institutions working to
improve procedures and practices.
Advocacy & Public Relations
- The AMA serves as an advocate for archival concerns and
works to increase the awareness about archives in the wider
community.
Newsletter
- The AMA publishes ArchiNews/ArchiNouvelles
which keeps members informed of AMA activities,
archival developments, conferences, workshops, publications
and other topics of interest to archivists.
Grants Administration - The AMA
Grant Administration Committee manages the Canadian
Council of Archives allocation of funds to Manitoba.
This committee also oversees the travel grant and professional
development programmes.
AMA Awards - The AMA periodically
presents a number of awards including the AMA
Thesis Award and Honourary Life Memberships in the Association
for Manitoba Archives.
Donations
- Donations to the AMA are gratefully accepted. Tax receipts
will be issued for donations of $10 or more.
