Established in 1872, Her Majesty's British North American
Boundary Commission acted jointly with an American
Boundary Commission to survey the international boundary
from the Lake of the Woods to the Rocky Mountains.
These
photographers not only worked on a survey which defined
the geographical boundaries of Manitoba, they are
creating records which are now one of the treasured
holdings of the Archives.
